Sexual Misconduct

Clarkson College strives to provide an environment free from all forms of sexual misconduct to all of its community members. Sexual misconduct includes dating violence, domestic assault, domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and stalking. All forms of sexual misconduct are violations of the College’s policy and will not be tolerated.

What to Do if Sexual Misconduct Occurs

  • If you feel any threat to your safety, go to a safe place – to the residence of a family member or a friend or to a public place. All Omaha fire stations serve as a “safe house” for immediate protection prior to police arrival.
  • Contact an advocate from the Women’s Center for Advancement at 402.345.6555 (Mon-Fri 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) or 402.345.7273 (24-hour hotline); the advocate will talk with you about what’s happened and provide you with support and resources.
  • Consider seeking medical attention for treatment of any injury or trauma and to properly preserve evidence in case you decide to pursue legal charges.
  • Make an appointment with the counselor on campus, 402.552.2694, a counselor at Arbor Family Counseling, 1.800.922.7379, or with another counselor.

Report the Incident of Sexual Misconduct

The College strongly encourages you to report any incident as soon as possible, even if you are unsure whether or not you will pursue criminal charges. It is your decision, however, whether or not to file a College report and/or to pursue criminal charges. Please contact the Title IX Coordinator, Pauline Laughlin at 402.552.6298 or at titleixcoordinator@clarksoncollege.edu to report the incident and/or to discuss these options further. You can also make your report online by completing the Sexual Misconduct Reporting Form. To report the incident to law enforcement, please call the police department at 911. If you have questions to ask of the Omaha Police Department, please call the Domestic Violence Squad at 402.444.5825.

If you disclose an incident of sexual misconduct: If you disclose an incident of sexual misconduct to any College employee, that employee is required to report the incident to the Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator will honor, to the greatest extent possible, your request for confidentiality; however, this cannot be guaranteed when your safety or the safety of others is of concern. The Title IX Coordinator will walk you through the process and answer any questions you have. To view the College’s full Sexual Misconduct Policy, click here.
