According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the need for physical therapist assistants (PTA) is expected to grow 26% through 2028, much faster than the national average. In addition, Clarkson College graduates* experience exceptional outcomes following completion of the program. Please use the app fee waiver code IWCCPTA to waive the $35 application fee. Upon acceptance, we will also wave your $100 enrollment fee.
In the early 1990s, Clarkson College saw the need for a top-quality physical therapist assistant program in the Omaha area. In fall 1994, the Associates degree in PTA option was launched. Since those early days, the program has grown to include a specific transfer-option, dual degree option with a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Business and major in Management, and one of the first Bachelor’s degree in PTA options in the nation.
Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education since 1996, the PTA program has graduated more professionals than any other in the state. Over 200 clinical sites in 21 states highlight the importance placed on hands-on learning and professional network building. In addition, students utilize the critical thinking skills they learn in clinical rotation to create personalized rehabilitation plans that include various physical therapy interventions and activities to help them reach their goals.
The College is excited to celebrate fifty years of the PTA profession and introduce more students to this fulfilling career path. Clarkson College PTA graduates are influential professionals who advance the field of physical therapy through lifelong learning as clinic administrators, faculty members, clinical instructors and clinicians, and by participating in professional organizations at the state and national levels.
