COVID-19 College Update - Oct. 14

Dear Clarkson College Community,

As a College, we place the highest value first and foremost on the safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff members. Amidst the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, we also remain firmly committed to our mission supporting the continuity of education by preparing our students to professionally provide high quality, ethical and compassionate health care services. We are grateful for each and every one of our community members as you continue to maintain and promote a safe campus through social distancing, wearing masks, cleaning surfaces and being respectful of others.

We are pleased to inform you that our current COVID-19 processes and policies surrounding reporting, contact tracing and quarantine practices are working to help keep our community members safe. On our website, you can find our new COVID-19 dashboard including the number of self-reported student cases in our community. Currently, out of our nearly 1,200 students, there are 6 current active cases and 18 students in quarantine. We continue to track our positivity rate and want to stress the importance of doing symptom checks daily, continuing to stay home if you have symptoms, and following quarantine procedures.

You will also find a new COVID-19 feedback form on our webpage. This form gives you the opportunity to submit feedback including processes you feel are going well, as well as questions and concerns regarding the College policies surrounding COVID-19.

We want to encourage all community members to continue to follow the processes and procedures outlined in the Our Path Ahead to Fall 2020 Guidebook. Classrooms will remain at 50% capacity throughout the semester, and students should remain socially distanced unless in small group activities instructed by faculty. Please also remember to wear masks in and out of classrooms, as well as in the hallways, elevators, labs and common spaces. The faculty may also, at their discretion, ask their classroom participants to wear masks at all times as an added safety measure.

The College is beginning to work on plans for the spring 2021 semester. As we formulate the plans, we will be asking for feedback in the form of a survey to all students, faculty and staff members. We look forward to hearing from you. Again, thank you for your continued support, diligence in promoting a safe campus, feedback, and most importantly, your dedication to living our Value of Caring for one another as we continue to finish out the fall semester together strong.

Sincerely,

Dr. James Hauschildt
President of Clarkson College
